How can EMDR help with Pain?

Chronic Pain can be debilitating, affecting many aspects of life.  Pain can sometimes be difficult to manage, causing discouragement, depression, and anxiety.  Research demonstrates that EMDR can help the brain to process pain differently, resulting in a lessened pain sensation.  To date studies have demonstrated that EMDR is effective with pain caused by:  Migraines, Pain from accidents and injuries, Fibromyalgia, Phantom limb pain in amputees, Chronic Illness, Post-Surgical pain, and Post-Partum Pain.  These studies show that EMDR not only reduces pain, but also decreases depression, anxiety, and the need for medication, while increasing coping skills and quality of life.  EMDR can be a wonderful complement to physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage, and other treatments.
